All Blacks Coach, Steve Hansen, has made the most of his time off catching a massive 52kg kingfish yesterday afternoon. The 52kg monster ties the existing New Zealand kingfish record which has stood for over 23 years.
Hansen left on the fishing trip early Wednesday morning with a group of close friends, and Aaron Smith. The fish took Hansen just over 5 minutes to reel in which stunned those on board.
When asked about what it felt like to make history, Hansen told Thai Castle “Yeah it’s a pretty decent sized fish. Could have reeled it in faster but had to apply some sunscreen and take a piss. You know the old slip slop slap and wrap situation”.
When asked what he planned to do with the fish Hansen said “All I can say is the local fish and chip shop in Mosgiel is gonna have a lot of product over the next few weeks”
